The increasing popularity of robotics as an enabling technology is due to its remarkable flexibility and reusability, effectively responding to the growing tendency of companies to organise the production of constantly changing small batch sizes. This has accentuated the urgent need for solutions that allow direct reconfiguration of processes by in-house technicians, eliminating dependence on specialised installers or integrators. The proposed project aims to meet this need through the development of a robot cell, comprising robot, gripper tool, work table and handling support elements. The proposed solution exploits vision technology to enable the self-configuration of assembly processes. Once implemented, the user of the robot will be able to easily move from one assembly process to another, simply by changing the components of the cell, entrusting the robot with the task of automatically reconfiguring itself to perform the new task.
